The Director

Director-led. By design.

Samad Hospital is built around one governing principle: the director sees every case. Dr. K.G. Madhavan Pillai has led this hospital since he founded it in 1989 — and built India's first NABH-accredited IVF centre in the process.

In 1989, Dr. K.G. Madhavan Pillai founded Samad Hospital on V.V. Road, Pattoor, Thiruvananthapuram — with a clinical conviction that fertility care is at its best when it is personal, unhurried, and held to a verifiable standard.

That conviction became India's most distinguished credential in IVF care: Samad Hospital was the first IVF hospital in India to earn NABH accreditation — an independent audit of patient safety, clinical protocols, infection control, staff competency and documentation. This did not happen by accident; it was a deliberate institutional choice made early, when almost no fertility centre in the country had pursued it.

Dr. Madhavan Pillai's clinical practice spans the full assisted-reproduction toolkit: IVF, ICSI, IUI, cryopreservation, donor programmes, and gynaecological endoscopy. Over 35 years, he has served patients from across Kerala, the Gulf, and South India. Every cycle at Samad Hospital is reviewed at the level of the director.

NABH accreditation

India's first. Still held.

NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) is an independent quality audit — patient safety, clinical protocols, infection control, documentation, staff competency. Samad Hospital was the first IVF centre in India to earn it. That accreditation is maintained, not archived.

What NABH accreditation means for your care

Every protocol you go through at Samad Hospital — from the first consultation through to embryo transfer and post-procedure follow-up — has been externally verified against national standards. This is not a marketing certificate. It is a systems audit that most fertility clinics in India have never undertaken.

The accreditation covers: patient rights and education · clinical assessment protocols · care of patients · management of medication · hospital infection control · continuous quality improvement · responsibilities of management · facility management and safety.

A dedicated care team

Samad Hospital operates with a full clinical support team — nursing staff, embryology laboratory technicians, and administrative personnel — all trained and working within NABH-compliant protocols. The director personally oversees the team and reviews every clinical case.

Full team profiles will be published here once patient consent for photography is confirmed. Until then, any questions about the care team can be answered directly at info@samadhospital.com or by calling +91 80788 11101.
