In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF / ICSI)
The complete cycle — controlled ovarian stimulation, monitored retrieval, embryology in our own laboratory, and transfer with sustained luteal support. ICSI for severe male factor.
Samad Hospital is the IVF & fertility practice of Dr. K.G. Madhavan Pillai at Pattoor, Thiruvananthapuram — founded in 1989 and recognised as India's first NABH-accredited IVF hospital. സമദ് ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ
"India's first NABH-accredited IVF hospital — a standard kept since 1989."
Years of uninterrupted fertility care under the same director and the same standard.
The year Dr. K.G. Madhavan Pillai founded Samad Hospital on V.V. Road, Pattoor.
NABH-accredited IVF hospital in India — a quality standard most chains still don't hold.
Locations — Thiruvananthapuram (Pattoor) and Kollam — serving patients across Kerala and the Gulf.

In 1989, Dr. K.G. Madhavan Pillai opened Samad Hospital on V.V. Road, Pattoor — with a conviction that fertility care works best when it is unhurried, personal, and held to an uncompromising clinical standard.
That conviction earned Samad Hospital a distinction that still stands today: it became India's first NABH-accredited IVF hospital — a quality benchmark most fertility chains have yet to pursue. NABH accreditation is not a marketing certificate. It is a systems audit: patient safety protocols, clinical processes, documentation, infection control, staff competency. Samad passed. First in the country.
More than three decades later, the hospital serves patients in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and families travelling from across Kerala and the Gulf. The director still sees every case. The standard has not changed.
From a first diagnostic visit to a multi-cycle ART programme — every plan is written, costed, and walked through with you. NABH-accredited protocols at every step.
The complete cycle — controlled ovarian stimulation, monitored retrieval, embryology in our own laboratory, and transfer with sustained luteal support. ICSI for severe male factor.
A first, low-intervention step — gentle stimulation, ovulation tracking, and washed-and-concentrated sperm placed in the uterus at the optimal hour.
Vitrification of embryos, eggs and semen — for surplus embryos in a fresh cycle, for medical indication, or for life timing. Stored in our own laboratory.
Dr. Kokoori's deepest specialty. Endometriosis excision, adhesiolysis, tubal surgery, ovarian cyst management — performed minimally invasive, day-care where possible.
Direct visualisation of the uterine cavity, with same-session treatment of polyps, fibroids, septa and adhesions where indicated.
Minimal-access removal of fibroids preserving fertility, or hysterectomy where indicated — with the recovery profile of keyhole surgery, not open laparotomy.
Coordinated donor-egg, donor-sperm and surrogacy programmes, with full counselling and adherence to the ART (Regulation) Act, India.
Specialist follow-through for pregnancies that need close watch — prior loss, advanced age, comorbidities, post-IVF, multiple gestation. Continuous shared-care.
V.V. Road, Pattoor — a quiet consulting environment, sterile theatre wing, and in-house embryology laboratory. No referrals out for core procedures.
Every cycle, every retrieval, every transfer is reviewed and signed off by Dr. Madhavan Pillai personally. The hospital is structured this way deliberately — so there is no tier between the patient and the doctor who knows their case.

NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) accreditation covers patient safety, clinical protocols, infection control, staff competency and documentation — audited independently. Samad Hospital was the first IVF centre in India to earn it.

No two paths are the same — but every path follows roughly this rhythm, and every step is walked together.
An unhurried sit-down with Dr. Madhavan Pillai. Your story, your history, your questions. Both partners attend. No clock on the wall.
Hormone panel, ovarian-reserve markers (AMH, AFC), tubal patency studies, semen analysis. Hysteroscopy or laparoscopy where indicated.
A written, costed plan walked through with both partners. Alternatives are named. The lowest-intervention path that still works is the one we begin with.
IUI, IVF, ICSI, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy — performed in our own theatre. Embryology in our own lab. Reviewed and supervised by Dr. Madhavan Pillai personally. No locum, no rotation.
First-trimester monitoring here. Then either continued shared-care through delivery, or warm handover to your chosen obstetrician with full records.
A six-week visit. Sometimes a thank-you photograph for the wall. Sometimes a conversation about the next one.
Patient stories shared with written consent. Names withheld by default; full attribution added on request.
After two failed cycles at other centres, Dr. Madhavan Pillai redesigned the protocol entirely. He explained every decision. We held our daughter the following year.
What I remember most is that nobody rushed us. The doctors here gave us the time we had stopped expecting anyone to give.
Seven years of trying, three hospitals. Samad was the first place where I felt genuinely heard. NABH accreditation is not just a badge — you feel the difference.
We came from Kollam. From the first visit the care felt different — personal. Dr. Madhavan Pillai reviews every case himself.
If your question isn't here, it deserves a longer reply than a webpage. Please call us — or book a first visit and we will spend the time.
From the first day of stimulation to the pregnancy test is about four to six weeks. Add two to three weeks before that for the planning visit and any baseline scans. We do not rush the preparation phase — it is the part of the cycle that most affects the outcome.
Success in IVF is meaningfully different for every couple — age, ovarian reserve, cause of infertility, sperm parameters and uterine factors all reset the number. Dr. Madhavan Pillai will walk you through realistic per-cycle and cumulative odds for your specific situation during the planning visit. We do not publish a single headline rate because no headline rate is honest.
Costs vary by treatment (IUI is the most affordable, IVF with ICSI sits in the middle, donor and surrogacy programmes are the most involved). We hand you a fully itemised, written estimate at your planning visit — no hidden additions later. Discussing money openly is part of the work; please ask.
Dr. Madhavan Pillai personally reviews and signs off on every cycle and every surgical case. Samad Hospital is director-led by design — there is no rotation. You are not handed off to a junior or a locum at any stage.
NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) is an independent audit of patient safety, clinical protocols, infection control, staff competency and documentation standards. Samad Hospital was the first IVF hospital in India to earn it. It means every protocol you go through has been externally verified — not just claimed.
Bring any prior reports — semen analyses, hormone tests, scans, prescriptions, operation notes. If your menstrual cycle is regular, we don't need a particular day; if it is irregular, please mention this when booking. Come together if possible. We meet both partners on the first visit.
Fertility treatment is not covered by most Indian health-insurance policies; a small number of corporate plans do include it — please bring your policy document and we will check coverage. We offer staged-payment plans for IVF and ART cycles. EMI through partnered card programmes is available.
Yes — patients travel to us from across Kerala, the Gulf and South India. We also serve patients from Kollam. We coordinate visit clustering so most of the monitoring scans can happen in a focused 10 — 14 day window.
Share what feels relevant — we'll reach out within one working day to confirm a time. If something feels urgent, please call or WhatsApp us directly: +91 80788 11101
